CRHT
There are large number of persons suffering from mental illness who, lack insight and do not feel the need to seek treatment despite being violent and aggressive and other myriad of reasons. Family members fail to convince them to seek treatment and come to the hospital.
TRAINING PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS
Students of different streams viz Social work, psychology, law etc undergo block placement training at NGO Parivartan. The training is participatory in nature and the duration of training varies from 1-3 months. During the training students are given exposure of different programs and activities of Parivartan.
REHABILITATION
Parivartan along with Mental Health Institute (MHI) Sector 32, Chandigarh provides vocational rehabilitation for persons with mental illness in a variety of trades viz. Masala grinding and packaging unit, cutting & tailoring unit, Art & craft unit, paper recycling unit, kitchen and bakery unit etc.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND CAPACITY BUILDING
To reduce stigma and increase acceptance of mental illness and of persons suffering from mental disorders, Parivartan organizes several programs like seminars, workshops, CME for mental health professionals, persons suffering from mental health professionals, persons suffering from mental illness, caregivers, and civil society.
VOLUNTARY INDUCEMENT PROGRAMME
The NGO is committed to rehabilitation and community integration of persons with mental illness and for difficult to engage patients runs an exclusive program that provides avenue for job placement/engagement for persons with mental illness. Persons with mental illness having treatment resistant schizophrenia are engaged in some meaningful work and are paid salary from the NGO Parivartan.
RECREATIONAL GROUP ACTIVITIES
Caregivers face considerable stress and burden in caring for persons with mental illness and often need support and guidance to handle burn out. Parivartan monthly conducts recreational activities especially for reducing burnout among family members/caregivers. These activities are held in the group setting on first Saturday of every month.
